Sustainable growth, innovative companies and the creation or at least securing of existing jobs is at the core of almost any EU or national policy in the BSR, corresponding to the EU2020 strategy. In many BSR countries SMEs are mostly owner-managed, which often leads to the risk of losing knowledge and various jobs, if the owner has not transferred their business to the next generation before retirement. Therefore, the aims of the project are to examine, develop and design innovative and transferable models and tools for facilitating SME business transfers.
To achieve the its objective, the project is focused on four result areas:
- Strengthening institutional capacity of existing SME business support organisations for business transfers in the BSR;
- Better endorsement of SME business transfers by policy and administrations and easier financing;
- Sustainable skills of entrepreneurship, increase of entrepreneurial qualifications and increasing the number of candidates willing to take over businesses;
- Promoting business transfers during project implementation and ensuring sustained continuation of the implemented measures on a broad basis in all BRS countries.
The addressed target groups and beneficiaries of this project are owners and successors of SMEs, business support organisations and training facilities, universities, credit institutions, and others.
The increased capacities and institutionalised knowledge will achieve progressive change of SME business transfers in the BSR. Greatly improved models, well-organised transnational support structures, new financing methods and better qualified entrepreneurs, who are ready to take over businesses, will result in much higher success rates of company transfers during the project and for years to come.
