In order to discuss the promotion of economic cooperation, on August 18, LCCI president Aigars Rostovskis, council member Edvīns Bērziņš and board member Katrīna Zariņa met with the Indian ambassador to Latvia Tanmaya Lal.
Opportunities to continue cooperation in the field of education and science, strengthening of Riga as a transit point for Indian exports to Central Asian countries were discussed, as well as cooperation to support India's rapidly growing space exploration industry with research and technology.
Cooperation in solving politically important issues was also discussed: the progress of concluding a free trade agreement between the EU and India, cooperation in the Arctic Council and strengthening of economic potential, the potential of opening an Indian embassy in Latvia (the embassy of the Republic of India is located in Stockholm, Sweden) and the need, taking into account the Indian diaspora in Latvia.
