Aigars Rostovskis, President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the largest business association in Latvia, and Vice President of Eurochambres, has been elected as one of the 20 leaders of the world chambers of commerce who will serve in the General Council of the ICC World Chambers Federation for the next three years, raising Latvia’s economic and business interests at the global level.
The election to the General Council of the World Chambers Federation is a recognition not only of Mr Rostovskis’ professional activity, but also of the consistent and deliberate work of the LCCI to strengthen the voice and visibility of Latvian entrepreneurs at the international level. The members of the General Council are elected by the national chambers of more than 120 countries, which confirms the international recognition and trust of LTRK and its President.
A. Rostovskis also currently holds the position of Vice President of the European Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Eurochambres), thus becoming one of the few national chamber leaders who simultaneously represents both European and global business interests at the highest level.
The participation of the President of the LCCI in the General Council provides direct access to strategic negotiations on global business development, especially in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector, and opens the door to closer cooperation with chambers of commerce from more than 120 countries.
“This election is not only a recognition of our achievements, but also an opportunity to strengthen the presence of Latvian businesses in the global market – especially for exporters to make their products, services and ideas more competitive and visible in the world. It is our duty to be where decisions are made that affect the development of the global economy,” emphasises A. Rostovskis, President of the LCCI.
The term of office of the newly elected General Council starts on 1 July, and the first meeting will be held in early September this year in Melbourne, Australia, at the same time as the 14th World Congress of Chambers of Commerce, where the participation of a delegation of Latvian companies is also planned.
The World Federation of Chambers is a division of the International Chamber of Commerce, which brings together more than 12 000 chambers of commerce from over 120 countries. It is the world’s leading chamber of commerce networking and policy-making platform, supporting business development and creating an enabling environment, promoting international cooperation and strengthening business representation in global processes. Membership provides chambers with access to global initiatives, knowledge sharing and cooperation opportunities in areas such as trade, innovation, SME support and digitalisation.
