About project

The EcoSMEnergy project targets the issue of high energy consumption in SMEs grappling with challenges related to energy efficiency, lack of awareness, motivation, of access to financial solutions. Besides, businesses struggle with complex information and fragmented support schemes.

The primary objective is to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in SMEs operating within NACE codes C20 to C22 and C25 to C29.

The project’s impact is substantial: it anticipates significant primary and final energy savings, renewable energy generation, a reduction in GHG emissions, and substantial investments in sustainable energy.

The outcomes translate into cost reductions for SMEs (and therefore higher competitiveness levels), environmental sustainability, and substantial contributions to EU energy efficiency goals and policies.

Project activities

  • Involve a min. 540 companies in the various activities of the project (training, workshop, implementation of a Voluntary Code of Conduct, Energy Management System/Platform, etc.);
  • Directly support 20 SMEs in conducting energy audits to foster a culture of energy efficiency;
  • Create training modules and related materials;
  • Create a trainer handbook for interested stakeholders (ref. sustainability and exploitation);
  • Provide specialized training and workshops for 264 staff of SMEs, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge for effective energy management and the utilization of Energy Monitoring Systems (EnMS);
  • Involve 80+ businesses in the use the new EnMS;
  • Facilitate widespread awareness by reaching out to over 1.500 stakeholders within the specified NACE codes, emphasizing the significance of EnMS and sharing insights into the project’s mapping and benchmarking outcomes;
  • Actively engage 324 companies in data collection (via the IT tool) to facilitate implementation and monitoring;
  • Extend its influence to include additional 10.000 stakeholders, providing them with comprehensive information about the initiative and its associated results;
  • Engage 28 energy auditors in the organization of EnMS training, allowing them to access training materials, provide feedback, cross-pollinate ideas, and modify/improve their audit implementation methods.

Project results

  • Energy Management Software for tracking energy consumption and data analysis;
  • Energy auditing reports identifying areas of energy wastage and efficiency opportunities;
  • Training modules and awareness sessions on energy management principles;
  • Implementation of the Voluntary Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency;
  • Energy performance evaluation and reporting systems;
  • Documentation of all activities, data, and improvements related to the EnMS;
  • Dissemination of quality results and information through the Energy Efficiency HUB;
  • Promotion of businesses’ achievements in energy efficiency.
