One of the core priorities of the EU industrial strategy is to provide support in the digitalization of SMEs through financial support and recognise the need to foster the necessary digital skills of SME personnel. Efforts should be made to educate, upskill and reskill workers and all citizens to help them benefit from the opportunities of the digital age and navigate future economic shocks. One core aspect of the digitalization of SMEs is cybersecurity. Europe can lead in this area if it promotes both an increased level of cybersecurity and boosts the competitiveness of its industry.

The rate of cyber-attacks and data breaches has increased by almost 50% on a year-to-year basis since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. While this might be expected due to companies accelerating their digital transformation, it also points to a lack of understanding and adoption of key concepts of cybersecurity. Cyberattacks causing disruption to operations and critical infrastructure are ranked among the top five increasing global risks, according to The World Economic Forum’s 2020 Global Risk Report. This project strives to present to target group personnel a guided pathway to educate themselves quickly and effectively on operational security, enhancing their skills and their contribution to the welfare of their organisation and the broader operational environment.

The general objective of the CSecTOR project is to assist companies in making their operations more secure and ensure their operational resilience. Acquired Cybersecurity Training would offer companies ways to prepare and be protected against cyber-attacks on industrial assets, critical to their operations

• Assist companies in assessing their level of OT cybersecurity and exposure to cyber-attacks;
• Develop a methodological framework to support the target group in achieving operational cybersecurity and resilience;
• Provide companies with all necessary tools to select and implement operational cybersecurity measures;
• Equip individuals (company employees) with the necessary knowledge of information security, cybersecurity and operational security awareness;
• Raise awareness regarding the necessity of adopting secure practices on Operational Technology;

• An OT Cybersecurity Methodology, a methodological step-by-step framework;
• An OT Cybersecurity Self-Assessment Tool, a self-assessment tool to help companies identify gaps in their operational security;
• An OT Cybersecurity Training Course, an educational package with interactive materials;
• The OT Cybersecurity e-Training Platform, an online interactive platform that will host all the produced results.
