About the project
The vision of the LEF Network Azerbaijan project is to boost innovation and the region’s bioeconomy by exporting services, goods, and practical knowledge to Azerbaijan, thereby increasing the sustainability and competitiveness of the Central Baltic region. Azerbaijan has specific market needs, language and business culture, which pose a challenge for entrepreneurs. It is more difficult for companies to enter the market individually than by cooperating with other companies and business support organizations. As a result of the project, exports to third countries will be implemented faster and more efficiently.
The main objectives of the project are:
- To develop a joint support service platform for the development of exports from Finland, Estonia and Latvia to Azerbaijan
- To implement an export development program consisting of 1. market analysis and export knowledge, 2. export performance and regional image building. The main export activities will be trade missions to both Azerbaijan and LEF countries, B2B events (including online) and training
- Provide services as non-financial support to at least 50 companies from the CB region

- 6 trade missions to Azerbaijan
- 3 incoming trade missions from Azerbaijan
- 3 business forums in Azerbaijan
- 3 business forums in Latvia, Estonia and Finland (one in each country)

- Experience exchange events in the Central Baltic region
- Specific market research for companies in the Central Baltic region
- Direct consultations for companies in the Central Baltic region
- Development of export guides for Central Baltic companies, business maturity assessment
- Online seminars on Azerbaijan
- Preparation of open educational resources (OER) on Azerbaijan
- Promotional materials on the Central Baltic region in Azerbaijani, including video materials
- Training for companies prior to trade missions
- Consultations with Azerbaijani experts for Central Baltic SMEs
Project results
The goal of the LEF network Azerbaijan project is to conclude 10 sales agreements between experienced SMEs from Finland, Estonia, and Latvia and Azerbaijan within 36 months.
