About project

The goal of the “Silver Careers” project is to improve employment opportunities for people aged 55 and older in Latvia, Estonia, and Finland by strengthening their work-related digital skills, career management skills, and self-confidence in the labor market.

The project addresses the lack of digital skills, age-related barriers, and the underutilized potential of older workers.

As part of the jointly developed one-year training program, participants will take part in practical workshops, complete individual and team assignments, receive coaching, attend local and international training sessions, and participate in cross-border mobility activities.

To ensure that the training meets real workplace needs, employers will also be involved in the program.

Project activities

  • Engagement of stakeholders and employers in each partner country (Latvia, Estonia, Finland);
  • Formation of a joint team of trainers;
  • Needs analysis—interviews and surveys with working seniors and employers;
  • In-person and online digital skills workshops;
  • Career management skills workshops;
  • Individual coaching sessions;
  • International mobility;
  • Presentations by participants on the skills they have acquired and their individual projects;
  • Seminars for stakeholders;
  • Development of a joint sustainability plan;
  • Production of a video story about the Silver Careers workshops, results, and feedback from participants and employers;
  • Final international conference in Latvia.

Project results

  • Enhanced competitiveness of older workers in the labor market
    • People aged 55 and older from Latvia, Estonia, and Finland who are currently employed or looking to re-enter the workforce will complete the full Silver Careers program and receive a certificate confirming their improved digital and career management skills.
  • International experience and network
    • Participants will take part in cross-border mobility programs to partner countries, gaining experience as part of an international team and expanding their employment opportunities in the Central Baltic region.
  • Employer engagement and changing attitudes
    • Employers from all partner countries will actively participate in the program by defining training objectives and supporting their employees—thereby promoting a more inclusive approach to the employment of older workers.
  • A sustainable and transferable training program
    • The partners will develop a joint Silver Careers program, complete with methodological materials, which can be continued and replicated in other organizations and regions even after the project ends.
